2020 Planning? Planning for 2021? Submission + Finding a Balance

2020 Planning? Planning for 2021? Submission + Finding a Balance

Planning ain’t easy. ⁣

For a long time, I struggled to balance the notion of letting go and letting God … with the popular belief that He helps those who help themselves. Do I believe the two to be true? Yes. I still do.  Although, I always found myself asking whether I was doing enough to help myself or if I was doing too much and not letting go (overstepping).  Since forever, I’ve always loved the idea of organizing a plan, planning ahead and feeling prepared for the next. Along with a sense of direction, there is the accomplishment, clarity and a peace of mind that comes with having things planned for yourself, your family, your career or even recreation. ⁣

Sometimes this can also be a challenge because we are are no predictors of the future. Things come up, circumstances occur, problems may arise and life happens. (Insert: all of 2020). This year has been a lot. Yet, I’ve found myself at peace in knowing and affirming the following gems: ⁣

1.  Having a plan is imperative.  However, it’s only with prayer that the approved plan comes together. (See Proverbs 16:9). He’ll reward the effort and order our steps. No need to overwork ourselves or stress out.

2.  We TRULY live our best lives when we offer God flexibility and nurture a spirit of flexibility.” (Howard John Wesley) Flexibility in love, in our relationahips with family and friends, at work, etc. This is literally a whole sermon. Check out Alfred Street Baptist Church’s YouTube channel for the run down. ⁣

3.  What is meant for us, is already ordered. We just have to stay motivated, keep going, keep working and walking in it. ⁣Period.

4.  Planning ain’t easy, but having is plan is key!  For example, it’s like letting Him know you’re postured and ready to work, even though there might be some markups and revisions to that plan. Ha!

What about you?  How do you maintain balance between planning and falling back?  Are you standing firm on your plans for the rest of 2020, or are you currently going with the flow?
