Home Is Where The Heart Is

Home Is Where The Heart Is

Summer ’18 is just about here!

The question is, when and where can I travel to next?  Sometimes it feels like I have more outfit ideas than I do scheduled places to go.  But lately, I’ve had more places to go and things to do, than I did outfits.  Between work, family and business, my outfit planning kind of fell to the wayside.  So to conjure up some inner fashion mojo, I’m sharing a fun, style recap on my recent trip home to the U.S. Virgin Islands and a few of my favorite looks.

When traveling, I aim for comfort and warmth.  That is, I’ll wear anything that offers ease and allows me to comfortably walk throughout the airport and relax on the plane.  But I must have layers for warmth, in the event of freezing A/C temps.  So for departure, I opted for some super comfortable, skinny jeans paired with a cute and conscious graphic tee.  I topped off the look with a bright fuchsia linen blazer, animal print mules, a straw hat and an oversized tote (for all my flight essentials).

My first full day kicked off right on the beach at Magen’s Bay with friends.  It was impromptu but my beach gear definitely wasn’t.  I know that I wanted to hit the beach in some neon hues for a fun sporty look … and “Swimsuits For All” totally came through.  Background: when their Gabi Fresh Swim Collection dropped, I went bananas!  All the bright colors, cute prints/patterns/textures and sexy silhouettes had me dreaming of beach days, daiquiris, suntan lotion and fire sky sunsets!  It was so hard to choose just one swimsuit … or two … or three.  Go figure.  But I was super pleased with the selections I made and the overall quality and feel.  Add a pop of aqua accessories and a bold lip from The Lip Bar — and wal-lah!  Beach babe status.

Hey girl hey!

In between beach days, there were some occasions that required fully-dressed attire.  Namely, church service and Sunday brunch with the family.  Yes, Sunday brunch is a universal affair and no one does it like Caribbeans do.  Ha!

But for this splendid day, I went for a crisp white bell-sleeved blouse paired with bright pops of color everywhere else — skirt, shoes and purse.  This high-low stripe number was so cute and  comfortable (before and after brunch, thanks to the elastic waist) … and it just flowed with the wind that day.  There is nothing like feeling gorgeous, light and breezy, at the same time.

Too many layers for all this gorgeous tropical weather, right?  Back to the beach we go!

*mood*

Ayyyeee!

Of all my swimsuits, this one was definitely the most fun. Fun, flirty and covering just enough in all the right places.  Pops of color, stripes that remind me of candy, ruffles, comfy fabric and once again, great coverage.  SwimsuitsForAll x Gabi Fresh did it again!  I swam, danced, ate, posed with the girls for pics and ate some more — in this adorable swimsuit that made me feel just as fly leaving our beach party, as I did when I arrived.

Another day … another reason to hit the beach, right?

My final favorite look from vacation was one that happened inadvertently.

I was suppose to have breakfast with a good friend and decided to throw on a tank and jeans, topped with a cool floral print Kimono.  Twenty minutes before our scheduled time, she called to cancel.  I was so looking forward to seeing her but I totally understood.  Picked up the phone and agreed to meet some girlfriends for drinks … at the beach. Ha!  So I dashed home and grabbed the first swimsuit that I spotted in my suitcase, in a rush.  Out comes the red Bae Watch one piece.  Bae Watch?  It is totally a vibe and this was not that day.  Lol!  This wasn’t a Bae Watch day at all.

But saltwater, sunshine and sand were calling …

To my surprise, the floral kimono was an unusually perfect addition to my red one piece swimsuit.  Bright hues, white tassel earrings, metallic aviators and sandals in front of a distressed yet beautiful beach scenery.  Total vibes! Unpredictable yet perfect. Not bad at all.

Message:  Planned or impromptu, trust your sense of style and have fun with it.
