Loving You

Started with a chop, now we here. It’s been almost a year and half since the big chop at Salon C’est Chic and approximately eleven months since I went rogue and let my brother’s barber (back home in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands) cut my hair super low. I was going through some serious changes and suffering from hair loss and stress patches while grieving the loss of my dad. It was honestly, a very a trying time but I continued to smile my way through it.

Since then, I’ve been living a no-heat lifestyle with protective hair styles (including wigs), maintaining my natural tresses with the immense help of “Shea Moisture” hair care at home, and indulging in deep treatments at the salon.

Along with imperative lifestyle changes (exercise, healthy eating and nutrition, therapy/talking to someone and removing toxicity from my life), nurturing and caring deeply for my hair has made getting back to me such a special experience. Sometimes we get so caught up in life and our schedules that we forget about ourselves and that which we need the most. Nurturing. It’s also amazing how things can change drastically when you fully detox your life and make self-care your priority.
