Well, back on June 1st, the talented and renowned, Black, Chicago-based influencer, Blake Gifford shared the news that she was next up to drop her own size-inclusive collection with Amazon Fashion. Followers, fans, supporters, women of color and fashionistas alike were in a complete giddy frenzy, as we were all waiting for a moment like this. I mean who better to design her own collection that “Signed Blake!?”

Blake wrote “EXTRA!! EXTRA!! I’ve been sitting on this news for almost seven (7) months, but I’m excited—and extremely nervous—to FINALLY announce that I’m launching my own (size inclusive) fashion collection with @amazonthedrop this fall!! I’m proud of this moment, because it’s the result of me getting out of my own way and asking for what I want. For what we deserve. I wanted there to be more of “us” in the line up so… I asked. And the answer was an immediate and resounding, “YES!” (Signed Blake).

Calendars were marked, clocks were set and the countdown started … and the wait began!

Then on Tuesday September 1st, in less than 30 hours, Blake’s collection sold like hot cakes. Social media comments and DM’s were flooded with friends, sisters, co-workers and bff’s checking in to remind each other that the collection was live, that items were selling fast, and that it was better to order two sizes to ensure they didn’t miss out. It was crazy ya’ll. Satisfyingly crazy. To see this young, Black female influencer pursue her dream(s), make it happen and watch it all come true. Truly empowering!
