BlogHER Conference Day I

BlogHER Conference Day I

Day 1 of #BlogHER18 is in the books!  I received a wealth of information and walked away with so many gems.  To say that I am inspired and empowered is an understatement!  Stay tuned for more. Until then, check out my “Look of the Day” from the first day with links to shop at the end.

The Threads

For the first day, I wanted to suit up without the edge of a full-on suit. So I went for a professional chic look using trending pieces that I snagged for individual brand.

For conferences or workshops, long-sleeved layers are a must.  But the standard black or great suit jacket wasn’t going to do it for me. This vivid fuchsia blazer was just what I envisioned.  Soft satin, bright hued and it also came with a belt.

Win-win.

For my bottom option, I pictured roomy, oversized pants, and these side-slit palazzo printed pants stole my heart. Comfortable, stylish and affordable, these pants are now at the top of my best summer picks list.  I hadn’t considered slits but they most definitely added shock value to this look. Moreover, they made way for an interesting contrast of mixed prints at floor level.

Shoes please …

The Shoes

To say that mixing these prints was a total fluke would be an understatement.  Up until the night before departure, I was unsure if I’d rock a pair of black pumps with this look or an open-toe sandal. I liked about 3-4 styles and none seem to work well or satisfy my creative taste.

Nonetheless, I remembered grabbing this fun pair of stripe sandals during a DSW campaign that Dayna Bolden (@daynabolden) shared on her social media feed.  I immediately grabbed the shoe box out of my closet and laid them out.  It was a gorgeous collision of texture and prints.  The rich jewel-toned, black and nude stripes coordinated beautifully with the black/nude print palazzo pants.  It was mixed-print perfection!

Dare to be different.  Dare to be you!

Accessories

They say access make they outfit and that one should never leave home without them.  On Day 1, I fully obliged with this fashion rule for accessorizing.  For this look, I went for the regal duo … black and gold.

One one hand, I created a fun short-stacked arm party mixing black and gold with hints of white to break up the consistency a bit.  On the other hand, I rocked a delicate engravable bracelet that is near and dear to my heart.  I pretty much wear this one every day, as it notes “VIstrong,”  a reminder of my home (the U.S. Virgin Islands) and a message not he strength of these islands post- Hurricanes Irma and Maria, one year ago.  In playing off of the gold engravable bracelet’s pave details, I added a one of my favorite gold rings … a pave duo ring for two fingers none hand and added a basic stacked piece on the other hand.

For my earrings, I went for a subtle drama with these black, gold and bronze beaded chandeliers.  Lightweight yet bold and edgy.  My final accessory piece arrived just in time for my trip to BlogHER.  It’s custom engravablge bar necklace that allows you to customize your bar with up to 19 characters.  Appropriately so, I adorned mine with my blog name “Faith Love Life & Style,”  but guess how many characters it took fill up my bar.

Exactly 19.

The little things.  Isn’t God awesome!?
